Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with experience managing Water and Wastewater projects to join their West Central group. In this role, you will be the primary contact for the planning and design of drinking water, wastewater treatment, pump station, conveyance, and water resources projects in New Mexico, as well as assist with business development activities.

Our client has been serving the New Mexico market for over 25 years with a full-service office of 12 employees. Their services cover design and construction administration of drinking water, wastewater, water resources, and storm water facilities, including master planning studies and modeling.

 

As a member of this team, you would contribute to our client’s mission by:

  • Managing and serving as the Senior Project Manager on major water and wastewater projects in New Mexico.
  • Providing technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring to enhance water services design capabilities.
  • Overseeing scope, schedule, and budget development, monitoring, and adherence for managed projects.
  • Completing Quality Assurance/Quality Control of key deliverables and assisting with projects managed by others in the office.
  • Assisting Client Service Leaders with technical marketing and client meetings in the New Mexico region.
  • Participating in professional societies relevant to the industry.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with key decision-makers in clients’ organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 4 years of related experience.
  • PMP (PMI), CCM, or DBIA certification required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required, contingent on specific duties and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Experience managing design projects for municipal wastewater, drinking water, conveyance, and water resources clients.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline project teams.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and team-building skills.
  • Experience working directly with clients.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience managing projects for municipal clients in the greater New Mexico market.
  • Business development experience, including proposal preparation, scopes of work, and fee estimates for municipal clients.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with project management methodology, including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and project management software.
  • In-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks, and opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with varying levels of staff and vendors.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills for working with team members and clients.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of requests and interactions.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
